We specialize in quality fiction and non-fiction. Our primary areas of interest include literary and selected commercial fiction, history, journalism, culture, biography, memoir, science, natural history, spirituality, cooking, gardening, building and design, and young adult and children’s books. We also work with institutions and organizations to develop books and book programs. We do not represent authors in a number of categories, e.g. romance and westerns, and we do not represent screenplays.
What we do
"What do you do as an agent?" is a question we hear from authors of all levels of experience. The following list serves to clarify the many ways we support an author's book and career:
- We help hone the idea. We work with our authors to clarify and craft their book proposals, edit their manuscripts, and position their projects for sale to publishers.
- We do the selling. Using our experience and professional relationships we present and sell the book projects to editors and publishers.
- We do the deals. We negotiate all major deal points and specific contract details to fit the particular concerns of each of our authors.
- We're your partner. We are "there" as your publishing partner to strategize, solve problems, and support the publishing process.
- We understand the book market. We help our authors develop marketing strategies, build contact networks, and strategize with their publishers to create a successful book launch and establish a place in the market.
- We know the right people. We will connect you with the right publicist, lecture agent, website designer, or web expert, if these efforts make sense for you and your book.
- We pursue all media opportunities. We work with co-agents, our own contacts, and publishers to sell film, magazine, foreign, merchandising, on-line and other ancillary rights and to arrange corporate sponsorships.
- We see the big picture. We work with institutions and brands, as well as individuals, to create books and develop publishing programs.
